Attention all sun lovers…
We may have enjoyed some fabulous weather lately, and there is talk of a gorgeous summer ahead, as we discussed recently. However, the coming days’ weather is becoming increasingly more unsettled from Saturday it would seem. Therefore, it seems apt to grab the moment and plan a quintessentially British Pimms, after a warm day at work on Friday, before the weather breaks.
It’s tawny colour, and a delicious blend of fruits will be guaranteed to overcome any potential ‘weather blues’ at the weekend. So, how do you ensure that you are serving the perfect Pimms?
Don’t overload your Pimms with fruit. Instead, pick a few strong flavours that work well together. An unusual flavour combination that works well is Pomegranate and Basil; it doesnt have to be all about strawberries and mint (although they are a pretty delicious tradition!).
When adding herbs (perhaps basil or mint), crush the leaves before adding them to your drink. This will maximise the aroma and leave your Pimms perfectly seasoned.
Got a sweet tooth?
Those with a sweet tooth might like to add a splash of cranberry juice, or perhaps use a flavoured lemonade for a little extra ‘zip’.
Ice, Ice, Baby
Get creative with your ice by colouring your ice cubes or freezing a leaf in them.
Sprinkle a little lemon juice and sugar over the fruit before you add them to your drink. Let the fruit pieces stand for ten minutes so they soak in the sweet and sour flavours, and then add them to the liquid at the last minute, to save them from going soggy.
Most of us enjoy this summer drink, but it is important to remember the impact of over indulgence on our health; for more information on drinking responsibly click here.
